Agricultural Microbiomes workshop

Assoc Prof Pauline Mele and Dr Helen Hayden are convening a full day workshop on Agricultural Microbiomes on Monday 25 November 2019, at AgriBio, La Trobe University, Bundoora, Melbourne.

The workshop is being run as part of the Australasian Plant Pathology Conference. Attendance to the conference is not required for the workshop. Registration details can be found here, deadline set on 23 September.

The workshop will be focussed on plant- and soil-associated microbiomes. Discussion sessions will be held on the current status of research; progress in related databases, metadata and technical information; identification of gaps in technical, analytical and education resources; increase of collaborative efforts and development of draft strategies for advancing agricultural microbiome research and applications.

Prof Linda Kinkel (University of Minnesota) and Dr JP Dundore-Arias (California State University-Monterey Bay & University of Minnesota) ran the inaugural event at the 2018 International Congress of Plant Pathology in Boston. They will assist and co-convene this workshop.
Prof Kinkel is the leader of the U.S. National Science Foundation-funded Agricultural Microbiomes Research Coordination Network which aims to develop an international network of microbiome research and researchers through workshops, training, and sponsored sessions at scientific meetings.
